Personal information

Francesca is a postdoc researcher at the Athena Institute (VU) where she works for the projects SLIPPRS. This project examines existing Open Science (OS) practices in place at social science faculties in the Netherands and will provide informed policy advice on how to organize research data support in these faculties.

Francesca also works on projects (CROPMIX and VEEN VITAAL), focused on multistakeholder and transdisciplinary research for system transformation related to sustainable agriculture.
Previously Francesca worked as Research Data Manager at DANS-KNAW and Community Manager for the European Research Infrastructure DARIAH-EU (a research infrastructure for the digital arts and humanities).

In parallel, she conducted a doctoral research (based at the University of Verona, Italy) on collaborative practices among researchers within European Research Infrastructures (ERICs). The research question examines the friction between spontaneous collaboration dynamics among researchers and the structured governance model of the ERICs.
Francesca is deeply interested in research and collaboration dynamics, and how these shape the advance of scientific discovery. Open Science principles have undoubtedly changed the way in which research is planned, performed and disseminated. In my opinion, however, Open Science should continuously be monitored and evaluated in order to assess the impact it has on both individual and collective research practices, as well on researchers' integrity and diversity.
