Research

My research focusses on the role of the frontal cortex in higher cognitive functions such as attention and impulse control. I study this on single cell level as well as in the intact brain during behaviour using several state of the art techniques like optogenetics and electrophysiology. This will lead to a basic understanding of how the brain contributes to higher cognitive functions in health. My hope is that this eventually this might lead to therapies that alleviate impaired cognition as seen in AHDH and Alzheimer’s.
