Research

Research Interests: Platform Ecosystems, Innovation, Industry Evolution, Organizational Learning, Video Game Industry

My research interests lie at the intersections of the literatures on platform-based ecosystems, industrial and technological change, and organizational learning. In particular, I explore the impact of industrial and technological change (a) on the platform ecosystem, (b) on the firm, and (c) the antecedents of these changes. In all of my studies, I adopt an organizational learning and capability development perspective to explore the outcomes of industrial and technological change. My studies offer clear implications for platform and firm strategy and contribute to our knowledge of technology and innovation management.

Some questions I address in my research are the following: How does the change in a platform technology affect its innovation ecosystem? How do platform owners manage the challenges faced by their ecosystem members in adapting to a new technology? How do industry and technology life cycles moderate the relationship between experience and performance? How do unusually successful products create change in an industry? Which firms have the experience and capabilities to benefit from this change?
