Personal information

Henri Dekker is Professor of Management Control at the School of Business and Economics at Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam, and is head of the department of Accounting. In 2003, he received his PhD from Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam for his research on the control of interfirm relationships. Henri currently has a visiting position at Copenhagen Business School and earlier held visiting positions at the London School of Economics and the University of Melbourne.

Research

Henri's research agenda is focused on the themes of governance and control of interfirm relationships, management control within organizations, and firms' compliance with regulations. His work has been published in a variety of accounting and management journals and has been recognized by several awards. Henri currently is Associate Editor at Management Accounting Research and at the Decision Sciences Journal, and is a former Associate Editor at European Accounting Review. He currently also serves on the editorial boards of Accounting Horizons, Accounting, Organizations and Society, Behavioral Research in Accounting, Contemporary Accounting Research, European Accounting Review and Journal of Management Accounting Research.

Teaching

Henri is involved in teaching on management accounting and control in bachelor, master and post-graduate / executive programs. He also supervises and supports students in bachelor, master and PhD programmes in conducting their research and writing their thesis.
