Ioana Vrăbiescu is an Assistant Professor at the VU Amsterdam. She currently works on the role of ethical emotions in migration control apparatus (Affective Borders) and on the intersection of climate change and human and non-human forced mobility (Engaged Scholarship against Climate Change), with a focus on India. Previously, she was a visiting scholar at Tel Aviv University and the New School for Social Research and was a senior researcher at the University of Warwick and the University of Amsterdam. She conducted multi-sited fieldwork alongside the policing and deportation apparatus in France, the UK and Romania, qualitative study with women suffering from IPV, and ethnographic research with social services and institutions for migration management in Spain, among others.
