Personal information

After completing a bachelor in Criminology at VU University Amsterdam, Isabella Regan (1993) obtained a master degree in International Crimes and Criminology (cum laude) at the VU in 2016. Isabella was an exchange student at the University of Oslo (Norway) in 2014 where she completed courses in international (human rights and humanitarian) law and criminology. During the course of her studies, she did research internships at the university, including at the Centre for International Criminal Justice (CICJ) in the context of a project studying 'undesirable but unreturnable migrants'. During and after her master degree, Isabella worked for international human rights NGO Amnesty International in their Human Rights Capacity-Building Programme where she gained international experience working with and training human rights activists from Africa and the Middle East. From September 2018 she works at the Criminal Law and Criminology department as lecturer in criminology. Besides teaching, Isabella conducts research at the CICJ on the role of private actors in digital investigations of international crimes.
