Jingshu Du is assistant professor of strategic management and innovation at Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam and research fellow at Vlerick Business School (Leuven, Brussels, Belgium). She was a visiting scholar at Haas School of Business, University of California at Berkeley (USA). Jingshu received her doctoral degree in applied economics and strategic management from Hasselt University (Belgium).
Teaching
Jingshu’s teaching activities include courses in the bachelor's, master's, and honor's program. She coordinates and/or teaches in courses such as: research seminar, business model innovation, business ecosystems & open innovation, strategy, and international management. She is also supervisor of Bachelor and Master theses.
Research
Jingshu's passion in research covers open and collaborative innovation, Intellectual Property (IP) strategies, new product development, business model innovation, organizational innovation, and international management. Jingshu’s research is conducted in close collaboration with leading European firms in manufacturing and pharmaceutical industries. Jingshu’s research output has appeared on several international academic journals such as Research Policy, Journal of Product Innovation Management, R&D Management and in three books (Oxford University Press, Imperial College London Press, and Springer, respectively).
Prizes and Awards
Jingshu was selected to the inaugural European Strategy, Entrepreneurship and Innovation (SEI) Doctoral Consortium (HEC Paris, 2011), her research papers were nominated as ‘Best young scholar paper’ at International Product Development Management Conference (IPDMC, 2013), and she is one of the prize winners of the International Society for Professional Innovation Management (ISPIM) Doctoral Dissertation Award (2014).
Before pursuing a PhD in Belgium, Jingshu was awarded the prestigious “National Outstanding Student” in China (#1 in province, 2006) and was a contributing member of a Chinese National Soft Science Foundation project (grand-level).
