Janina Klein is an Assistant Professor of Organizational Change at the School of Business and Economics, Department Management and Organization. Janina obtained her PhD in Management from the University of Edinburgh Business School. Her professional background is in change management and consulting where she worked for more than twelve years in various roles. Janinas responsibilities included organizational change management (M&As and reorganization programs), executive education and business development. Janina is a certified business coach. She is an associate of the Centre for Strategic Leadership at the University of Edinburgh Business School, she is a member of the VU Center for Business & Society, and Janina was a member of the Organizational Committee for the 37th EGOS Conference

Research

Janina is passionate about understanding how organizations can contribute to resolving societal challenges and drive social change. Her research focusses on mission-driven organizations such as social enterprises and non-profit organizations. She is particularly interested in how these organizations create and experience change and the role of framing in this context. Janina has studied framing change during the European migration crisis and investigated organizational change in a UK national charity, among others. She is also interested in the leadership of change and is currently involved in projects focussing on framing strategies of social enterprises in the food and textile industry, change leadership, and the development of organizing arrangements at La Salada (Buenos Aires), the world's biggest informal textile market.
