Personal information

Janique Kroese is an Assistant Professor at the Department of Criminology of the Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam. She is also affiliated with the Netherlands Institute for the Study of Crime and Law Enforcement.

In 2022, Janique Kroese obtained her PhD at the Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam and the NSCR. She examined the effect of growing up in a single-parent family during childhood and adolescence on adolescents’ involvement in delinquency. During her PhD, she also worked on several projects regarding the consequences of parental crime, high-conflict divorces, and domestic violence. Before starting her PhD position, she obtained a research master's degree in Social Psychology and worked as a research assistant and junior teacher at the Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam.

Teaching

Janique Kroese coordinates and teaches courses in the Criminology bachelor programme and master programmes.

Janique is also the chair of the programme committee (OLC) of the Criminology master programmes.
