Janneke Oostrom is an Associate Professor of HRM and Organizational Behavior at the department of Management and Organization at VU Amsterdam, and the deputy head of the HRM & OB section in that department.

After attaining her master’s degree in Work & Organizational Psychology at the Erasmus University Rotterdam (EUR) in 2005, she started her career as a test consultant at Van der Maesen & Koch HRM-advies. After 2 years, she returned to the EUR to obtain her PhD and to continue her career as an Assistant Professor. From 2012 to 2017, she was an Assistant Professor of Social and Organizational Psychology at VU Amsterdam.  

Janneke Oostrom represents the VU in the Dutch Committee on Tests and Testing (COTAN), which is part of the Dutch Association of Psychologists (NIP) and audits the quality of psychological tests that are available for use in the Netherlands. In 2015, she joined the board of the NOA foundation. The goal of this foundation is to improve the hiring chances of ethnic minorities in the Netherlands.

Janneke Oostrom's research focuses on the recruitment and selection of personnel. Within this field, she studies topics such as situational judgment testing, impression management tactics, and diversity and inclusion.

Her research has been published in leading journals in the field, including Journal of Applied Psychology, Personnel Psychology, The Leadership Quarterly, Journal of Vocational Behavior, Journal of Research in Personality, and Journal of Experimental Social Psychology. 

She is an associate editor for the International Journal of Selection and Assessment and on the editorial board of the Journal of Personnel Psychology and Personnel Assessment and Decisions.  

Janneke Oostrom is the chair of the program committee of the Bachelor in Business Administration. She also teaches several courses in HRM and Research Methods and supervises a number of Master thesis projects each year. 

In 2015, she won the VU Junior Teacher of the Year Award, and in 2016 she won the faculty teaching award at the Faculty of Behavioral and Movement Science.
