Personal information

I work as a lecturer for the Academic Language Programme (ALP), and am a faculty member of the Department of Language, Literature & Communication.

I'm also co-editor of the online magazine Blue Labyrinths.

I teach and coordinate writing and grammar courses to bachelor and master's students. I mostly teach within the Academic Language Programme (ALP), but I also teach the verbal part of the GMAT preparation course, which is offered by the School of Business and Economics. I also teach some English linguistics classes within the Department of Language, Literature & Communication.

I run the advanced speech fluency workshops that are offered by the ALP. These workshops are aimed at employees of the VU who already speak English, but want to progress to an excellent level of speech fluency (C2).

My main areas of interest are second language acquisition, differences between native and non-native speakers, speech fluency, persuasion, critical discourse analysis and the language of newspapers and the media.
