Research

My research focuses on interactional research in health communication, with a particular emphasis on children and young people as participants in institutional settings. In terms of illness types, my main interests lie on issues to do with mental health and controversial illnesses. In addition, I also study patient narratives as they are elicited in different narrative interview settings.

My research is generally driven by everyday dilemmas health profesionals encounter in interaction and also by a desire to engage in a dialogue with professionals as to how the analysis of text and talk can contribute to optimizing their communicative practices

Teaching

My teaching lies in the area of interactional research and conversation analysis, health communication and discourse nnalysis. Courses I teach that illustrate these domains are Discourse and Social Interaction, Health Communication & New Media and Health Journalism.
