Personal information

Joshua is a PhD Candidate in the department of Environmental Geography at the Institute for Environmental Studies (IVM). He obtained both a BSc in Global Sustainability Science and a BA in Philosophy from Utrecht University. He continued onto the MSc in Environmental Science and Policy from Northeastern University. During the master’s degree he had the opportunity to work with the Rhode Island Department of Environmental Management (RIDEM) to formulate a bay scallop habitat restoration and reintroduction plan. His research during his master’s degree at Northeastern focused on environmental education, with the game Tinysea (playtinysea.com) functioning as his final project. He has worked in environmental research in Europe, Australia and the United States.

Currently, his PhD thesis is part of the Brightspots in Climate Smart Agriculture project. He will investigate the socio-ecological systems driving the adoption of climate smart agriculture. His research is part of the NaturaConnect project.
