Personal profile

Personal information

Julia Schlegelmilch is a PhD Candidate in the KIN Institute for Digital Innovation at the VU University Amsterdam. She holds a master degree in Business Administration (Change Management) and a master degree in Human Resource Management from the University of Groningen with a background in Psychology (Industrial Organizational Psychology). Julia is interested in the "New Ways of Working": the role of physical and digital affordances with regard to innovations in the workspace. This concerns how digital technologies are utilized and what impact these technologies have on work practices. The focus is on the recently risen "co-working" or "third" spaces, as well as how workers utilize the available technologies to their advantage.

Other activities:

  • Organizing KINTalks with a team of colleagues from KINKINTalks is an event where inspiring practitioners are invited to talk about their work experience in the field of innovation, digital technology, business and/or design. Key here is sharing knowledge and firing up debate.
  • Part of the Amsterdam chapter of the Research Group on Collaborative Spaces, where we are dedicated to studying collaborative spaces in Amsterdam and the wider Randstad area of the Netherlands. I am particularly interested in the coworking spaces in and around the urban areas in the Netherlands.
