Julian Lehmann is an Assistant Professor of Digital Entrepreneurship and Innovation at the Knowledge, Information, and Innovation Research Group, School of Business and Economics, Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam. His background is in Information Systems. He received a PhD from the University of Cologne for a dissertation on how new and small organizations ("start-ups") employ digital technology to design new products in incumbent and nascent industries. Julian has substantial experience in managing collaborations with large and small companies from various sectors.
Julian Lehmann's research lies at the intersection between digital technology, innovation, and entrepreneurship. Many of his studies take a designing view to explain how start-up organizations create novel digital products for industries such as financial services and 3D printing. Recently, Julian started exploring e-sports as a new phenomenon in management research
Julian teaches various courses on innovation and design on both the bachelor and master level, including Emergint Technologies in e-commerce, Managemement of Digital Innovation, and Digital Innovation Lab.
