Lars Tierolf is a PhD student in the Water and Climate Risk department of the Institute for Environmental Studies (IVM) at Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam since November 2020. His research is part of the COASTMOVE project and focuses on modelling the migration and adaptation behaviour of people affected by long-term sea level rise. Lars completed an interdisciplinary bachelor in future planet studies at the University of Amsterdam, where he also obtained his master’s degree in Earth Sciences. In his master thesis he applied land-use modelling and flood risk assessment to investigate the impact of urban development on river flood risk in Southeast Asia.
Modelling and simulation, flood risk assessment, sea level rise, ecosystem sciences.
2020: MSc Earth Sciences (cum laude), University of Amsterdam.
2018: BSc Future Planet Studies, major Biology (University of Amsterdam).
