Personal profile

Personal information

I am an assistant professor (universitair docent) at the School of Business and Economics, Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam. I studied psychology at the KU Leuven in Belgium, graduating with magna cum laude. After my studies, I further developed my research skills at the University of Cambridge (Cambridge Judge Business School) in the UK, where I worked as a research assistant and experimental lab manager. Then, I worked at the WHU Otto Beisheim School of Management in Germany, after which I pursued my doctoral studies at the Erasmus Universiteit Rotterdam (Rotterdam School of Management) in the Netherlands.

Research

I research leadership, trust, power dynamics, and decision-making in the workplace. Currently, I am working on projects about how power differences influence trust meta-accuracy and how employees can best build trust in uncertain environments. I have published articles in leading management journals such as Journal of Applied Psychology, Journal of Organizational Behavior, and Journal of Business Ethics, among others.

I also develop research tools and methods. For example, I wrote ConMET, an online app (also available as an R-package) that makes the assessment and evaluation of measurement models easier.

Teaching

I am the principal lecturer and coordinator of the HRM/OB course in the Dutch Bachelor of Business Administration. In addition, I am a tutorial teacher for the bachelor in International Business Administration. In the People in Business and Society course, we use insights from game theory and psychology to explain strategic decision-making. In the Managing People: Psychological Foundations course, we teach students about people's behavior in organizations. I also supervise bachelor and master theses.
