She has developed an academic background in Ecology, evolution and conservation biology during her studies at the Catholic University of Leuven. Leen is working on the TERRANOVA project, funded by the European Union’s Horizon 2020 research and innovation programme. This project aims to understand the social and natural drivers of landscape changes of the past and inform stake-holders and policymakers for future management. Her role is to explore possibilities to reconcile nature and (agri)culture by improving our understanding of the spatial variation in possible impacts of contrasting agriculture- and nature management strategies on ecosystem functions and values.
