Leo (L.W.J.C.) Huberts is emeritus hoogleraar bestuurskunde. Hij was (en is) verbonden aan de afdeling Bestuurswetenschap en Politicologie van de Vrije Universiteit. Hij studeerde in Nijmegen (politicologie), promoveerde in Leiden bij sociologie (proefschrift  ‘'De politieke invloed van protest en pressie') en was vanaf 1990 als bestuurskundige verbonden aan de Vrije Universiteit, onder andere als bijzon­der hoogleraar Politie­studies en Veilig­heids­vraag­stukken (1997-2004),  strategisch hoogleraar Integriteit van Bestuur (2004-2007) en hoogleraar Bestuurskunde (2007-2019). Hij is verbonden aan de onderzoeksgroep ‘Quality of Governance’ en  co-chair van de internationale IIAS studiegroep op dat thema. Zijn onderzoeksthema was en is (nu als zelfstandig onderzoeker) de kwaliteit en integriteit van besturen, met talrijke publicaties en ook de nodige betrokkenheid bij het maatschappelijke debat daarover. Dat mede via het Netwerk Goed Besturen waarin de wisselwerking tussen onderzoekers en ‘practitioners’ op het thema centraal staat.  

Huberts verzorgt post-academisch onderwijs (samen met anderen) binnen de VU Academy of the Social Sciences  (VASS) en de School of Governance,  o.a. een postacademische cursus over de Integriteit en Kwaliteit van Besturen. Met aanvullend diverse lezingen, ‘master-classes’ e.d. als ook betrokkenheid bij het maatschappelijke debat over integriteit in talrijke sectoren.

Teaching

Leo (L.W.J.C.) Huberts is Emeritus Professor of Public Administration of the Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam (Department of Political Science and Public Administration) with continuing involvement in the VU research group on the Quality of Governance and the global IIAS Study Group on the same topic. His research focuses on the quality, integrity and ethics of governance. He is author or editor of many books and articles on those topics.
