Lily Rueda Guzman is a Colombian lawyer (cum laude) who specializes in the interaction between international criminal law and human rights law in transitional justice contexts. She holds an LLM in Human Rights and International Criminal Law from Utrecht University (cum laude) and is Magister in Criminal Law from the Universidad Nacional de Colombia. She currently works as PhD Researcher at the Faculty of Criminal Law and Criminology of the VU Amsterdam. In 2015, the Netherlands Organization for Scientific Research (NWO) awarded her a Research Talent Grant to conduct analysis on sentencing of international crimes, the ICC’s Principle of Complementarity and peace processes in Colombia. Previously, she worked at the International Center for Transitional Justice, the International Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia, the United Nations Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights and, more recently, the Ministry of Justice of Colombia.
