Personal information

Liselore Havermans is Assistant Professor of Human Resource Management and Organizational Behavior at the Vrije Universiteit (VU) Amsterdam.

Liselore has worked in research and teaching positions at the University of Amsterdam, Nyenrode New Business School, and TATA-DHAN academy in Madurai, India. She received her MSc and PhD degrees in Business Studies from the University of Amsterdam (UvA), defending her PhD dissertation titled “Leadership in project-based organizations: Dealing with complex and paradoxical demands” in 2014.

From 2013 until 2014 Liselore was management board member and team lead publications of the Dutch National Research Group in Project Management, and co-editor of the Projectie Research Pages of the International Project Management Association, The Netherlands.


Liselore’s research is focused on leadership and development, especially in the context of project-based organizations.


Liselore has experience teaching topics such as human resource management, organization, management, leadership, and research methods for propaedeutic, Bachelor, Pre-Master, and Master students both in full-time and executive programs. Liselore is coordinator of the Master courses Leadership, Diversity in Organizations, and Academic Writing Master Class, and of the HRM Master and Bachelor theses and capita selecta.

Prizes and Awards

Liselore has received the EGOS Max Boisot Award 2014 for her paper titled ‘Exploring the role of leadership in enabling contextual ambidexterity’. She was the main researcher of a study exploring the development of project managers from 2012 until 2014 for which she received a Project Management Institute (PMI) research grant. Liselore is the research coordinator of a collaborative research project with Royal HaskoningDHV which kicked-off in 2015, and co-promotor of Simon Twaalfhoven who is the main researcher in this project.
