mr. Loran Kostense

Loran Kostense is a PhD-candidate at the Faculty of Law at the Free University of Amsterdam (Vrije Universiteit). She is researching divorce cases in which one of the parents wants to move to another city or region. She will focus on the legal and empirical aspects. The research she is doing entails innovative legal research methods, as she is conducting a so-called scoping review.

She finished her master's degree at the Vrije Universiteit summa cum laude with the average grade 9. In her master thesis she conducted a research in collaboration with the court of Amsterdam, in which  a pilot of piketmediation in divorce cases was evaluated. 

Loran Kostense is een PhD-kandidaat bij de afdeling familierecht van de Vrije Universiteit te Amsterdam. Ze onderzoekt scheidingszaken waarin één van de ouders wil verhuizen naar een andere stad of regio binnen Nederland. Hierin richt zij zich op de juridische en empirische aspecten. Het onderzoek dat ze uitvoert omvat innovatieve juridische onderzoeksmethoden. Zo voert zij een zogenaamde scoping review uit, een methode die innovatief is binnen het juridische vakgebied. 

Ze heeft haar master bij de VU Summa cum laude afgerond, met het gemiddelde cijfer 9. Tijdens haar masterscriptie evalueerde ze, in samenwerking met de Rechtbank Amsterdam, een pilot omtrent piketmediation bij echtscheidingszaken. 

Loran started with a bachelor Psychology at the University of Utrecht. During her bachelor she attented a minor private law and she conducted a bachelor thesis about trust in the Dutch legal system, under the supervision of professor Kees van den Bos. 

Loran volgde een bachelor psychologie bij de Universiteit van Utrecht. Tijdens haar bachelor heeft ze ook een minor privaatrecht gevolgd. Haar bachelor scriptie richtte zich op het vertrouwen in het Nederlandse rechtssysteem, onder begeleiding van professor Kees van den Bos.
