Maša's current research focuses on the regulation of digital investigation powers of the police, which function at the intersection of criminal procedure law and data protection law. Her other research interests concern cybercrime, privacy, surveillance and smart cities. During her PhD and as a postdoctoral researcher she was involved in the 'Privacy protection in the 21st century' project of prof. Bert-Jaap Koops (NWO VICI grant), finding new legal and conceptual paradigms to protect citizens in the age of ubiquitous data. Maša was also involved in several research projects (H2020, NWO, WODC), including leading a project for the WODC in 2019-20 on privacy risks stemming from the use of hobby drones and spy products between citizens and possibilities for regulation.
