Personal information

Maria Tamontseva is a PhD researcher and teacher at the Department of Management and Organization at the School of Business and Economics, Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam. In August 2023, she started a 4-year PhD project under the supervision of Dr. Jos Akkermans. 

In 2021, Maria obtained her Bachelor's in Management degree with a specialization in Human Resource Management at the Graduate School of Management, St. Petersburg State University, with distinction. During her Bachelor's education, she also successfully completed a semester abroad at McGill University. In 2022, Maria obtained a Master of Science degree in Business Administration – Human Resource Management at Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam with cum laude. 

Research

Maria's research interests concern careers and entrepreneurship. In her PhD project, she explores entrepreneurial careers and examines how entrepreneurs at different career stages switch between entrepreneurship and paid employment and how this may influence their career sustainability. 

Teaching

Maria teaches Bachelor-level courses, such as People in Business and Society and Organization Theory. Moreover, Maria is a Bachelor's thesis supervisor.
