Personal profile
Personal information
Having obtained my ‘Doctoraal Diploma English language and Literature’, I started teaching at an Institute for Higher Professional Education (Translating and Interpreting), and have done so for thirty years. As this was a part-time job, I also worked as a translator (o.a. two books on architecture). Later I stopped working as a translator to become a language trainer (Development workers, Students from Ministries, Companies and the CBS), which I combined with another teaching job at an Arts College. My next professional change was to set up a broad interpreting practice (Congresses, Research agencies, the Courts, The Police, Companies and the Immigration and Naturalisation Service (IND). Apart from this, I also organised an English literature group for eighteen years. Right now I am working on a PhD project: ‘Interpreter-mediated hearings at the IND’.
