Personal profile

Personal information

As an associate professor at the Department of Physics and Astronomy and as program director of the Bachelor Science, Business & Innovation (SBI), I work at the heart of experimental and entrepreneurial science. With my research and teaching, I contribute on a daily basis to the further development of entrepreneurial science & engineering, technological innovation and education.

I strongly believe in the transformative power of education. Unique about our approach is, that the work in our research group on science and tech entrepreneurship and education feeds directly into educational management and teaching practices, for an effective, evidence-informed didactical approach.

My work & activities involve:

- Principal Investigator Science & Tech Entrepreneurship Group, Department of Physics & Astronomy, Faculty of Science, VU Amsterdam. Supervision of PhD research projects, funded internally and externally by ao European subsidy.

- As Program Director in the lead of the Bachelor's program Science, Business & Innovation (SBI) (with NVAO Special Feature Entrepreneurship), Faculty of Science, VU Amsterdam. Involved in educational program management of several engineering programs as part of the strategic collaboration of VU and University of Twente.

-Teaching and coordinating several BSc and MSc SBI courses & graduation trajectories on bachelor’s, master’s and honours level. Supervision of SBI bachelor’s and master’s theses.

Next to my work for the VU I am working on my own entrepreneurial endeavor via "ScienceCreates" - consultancy on science and tech (entrepreneurship) education. ScienceCreates provides ao training to science and education professionals on science and tech entrepreneurship, and contributes to impact creation strategies for (international) researchers, research institutes and networks, and governmental agencies. Hence we co-create entrepreneurial innovation ecosystems through collaboration.
