Personal information

My research on child language acquisition and second language acquisition is driven by a theoretical linguistic perspective, focusing on the differences and similarities between languages and their impact on acquiring a native or foreign language. Together with Larisa Avram from the University of Bucharest, I have documented the acquisition of Romanian as both a native and a foreign language in various publications.

In my research situated at the intersection of language, cognition, and hearing, I investigate the subtle differences in spoken grammar development in children with hearing impairments and those with language development disorders. Thanks to national and European research grants, this research has further expanded to the development of linguistic testing materials for use in audiological practice, aimed at assessing the functional hearing of children and adults with hearing problems.
