Matilda’s research focuses on the changing role of non-state actors in global environmental governance (GEG). The objective is to better understand how different types of non-state actors engage within an increasingly complex governance landscape and what the consequences of that engagement is for our common capacity to address key sustainability challenges. She particularly focuses on marine/fisheries and biodiversity policy. She mainly utilizes qualitative research approaches, including text analysis and process-tracing and has considerable interview experience.
