Michiel Verver holds a BSc in anthropology and a MSc in Culture, Organization and Management. His PhD dissertation examines the revitalization of entrepreneurship in Phnom Penh, Cambodia, since the demise of the Khmer Rouge regime. His academic expertise lies in Cambodia’s private sector dynamics as well as the country’s ethnic Chinese minority. More broadly, his research focuses on migrant and ethnic minority entrepreneurship, social entrepreneurship and family businesses in a comparative perspective. He has published in journals in the fields of entrepreneurship studies and Asian studies. At the VU, he teaches courses on globalization and qualitative/ethnographic methodology in the context of organizations.
