Research

Currently I'm working on a research project related to the methodology of trial-based economic evaluations. The main topic of research is the statistical quality of trial-based economic evaluations. I'm focusing on how to deal with a number of issues encountered during performing cost-effectiveness analysis such as dealing with skewed data, missing data or clustered data. A prerequisite for using results of trial-based economic evaluations in day-to-day decision making is that they are valid and reliable. Using less than optimal methods can lead to biased conclusions and thus potentially to a waste of scarce resources in healthcare. This research project aims to identify optimal statistical methods for trial-based economic evaluations. The applicability of these methods are also demonstrated in applied economic evaluations.

Teaching

I'm involved in a number of teaching activities in Acadamic Research skills and Economic Evaluations for both Bachelor and Master students.
