Research

My research interests are in the field of psychology and traumatic stress, global mental health, community-based health interventions, community service learning and innovation in education.

Previous work experience includes working with abused children and children with cerebral palsy in South Africa; developing, implementing and evaluating community-based therapy programmes and providing training to health care professionals. I also consult in the development and evaluation of academic skills training and psychosocial support programmes for university students, as well as educational innovation programmes such as flipped classroom and community service learning in higher education.

Teaching

The courses that I coordinate and teach are: Future Challenges in Global Health, Geestelijke Gezondheidszorg, Community-based Health Interventions. I am the minor coordinator for the minor Global Health and biomedical and health interventions. Also, I enjoy supervising students during their Master research internships in the Masters Management, Policy Analysis and Entrepreneurship in Health and Life Sciences (MPA) and MSc Health Sciences and Public Health.
