In addition, she serves as the coordinator for the Responsible Societies Coalition, part of the VU-UT Alliance.

Nicole’s background is interdisciplinary, combining political science, climate studies, and geography. She holds a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from Potsdam University and a Master of Science in Climate Studies from Wageningen University & Research. She recently completed her PhD in Geography at Humboldt University of Berlin, where her research focused on developing scenarios for climate change adaptation.

Beyond her PhD research, Nicole worked as a Research Analyst at Climate Analytics, a global climate science and policy institute committed to supporting climate action aligned with the 1.5°C warming limit. She also has research experience from the Potsdam Institute for Climate Impact Research (PIK) and Columbia University and contributed as an author to the IPCC’s 6th Assessment Report.
