Personal information

Nina de Groot is a medical doctor and PhD candidate in bioethics. After obtaining a Master in Philosophy, Bioethics and Health (cum laude), she worked as a lecturer and medical doctor in consultation-liaison psychiatry. In 2019, she received a grant from the Dutch Research Council (NWO) to start her PhD project on the ethics of using non-forensic genetic databases for crime investigation purposes. She is currently working on the ethical aspects of using at-home commercial DNA tests for the identification of criminal suspects.

Other subprojects: Ethical aspects of forensic use of medical biobanks / Ethische aspecten van forensisch gebruik van medische biobanken. Onder andere het wetsvoorstel Wet Zeggenschap Lichaamsmateriaal.
