Olaf Knoester is a PhD candidate at the Dutch National Institute for Public Health and the Environment (RIVM) and the Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam, where he conducts research on the topic of ‘public involvement in research’. In particular, his research explores the many different facilitators and barriers to public involvement, both from the perspective of researchers and from the perspective of members of the public. In doing so, Olaf draws on his training as a social scientist and his previous research on people’s social and political behaviour.
