Research

I am interested in how employees deal with change and disruptions in organizational contexts. This includes episodes of voluntary change (entering a new organization, leaving), and involuntary change (e.g., dealing with organizational change, or recovering from a negative event). Specific variables that I have studied in the changing workplace are (organizational) commitment and (moral) leadership. When I do research, I always try to build temporal (or "process) theory and create substantive-methological synergies, meaning that I try to answer relevant questions with innovate research techniques. My vision is to develop scenarios for how people change in different contexts and to use this knowledge to develop diagnostic tools that could assist change leaders and followers in their change adventures. An example of such a tool, is the En-gager and En-gager Change apps I have developed with my collaborators. 

Teaching

Next to my research duties, I am program director of the Leadership and Change Management master, which is one of the five Business Administration master specializations at the Vrije Universiteit and will start in september 2017. In leading and coordinating this master, I work together with Prof dr. Steven ten Have. I teach two courses in the master specialization, Change Rhetoric & Politics 4.2 and Organizational Change Serious Game 4.3 (with Steven ten Have). I also teach Theory building, Logic, and Argumentation at doctoral level in collaboration with Joep Cornelissen. I have previously taught Organizational Behavior 1.4, Contemporary Perspectives on OB: Leading Change 3.4, Skills lab 1.3.
