Personal profile

Personal information

Since 1993, I have been conducting research on religion, particularly in the Netherlands. My specific research aim has been to understand the trajectories of religious practice in the context of secularization. This has led to projects on religious experiences within a Dutch charismatic-evangelical church (PhD, 2001), religious experiences in Christian alternative spirituality, and ritual practices among Dutch mainline Protestants. Currently, my primary focus lies in exploring the material dimension of religion, such as space and objects, as well as the study of ontological dialogues.

More recently, I have shifted my focus to historical and theoretical questions in the field of anthropology.  Another area of research interest for me is the interdisciplinary study of film and literature.
