Personal information

Phoebe Hargrave is a Junior Lecturer in Political Science at the Department of Public Administration and Political Science. She obtained an LLM in Law and Politics of International Security from Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam in 2022 and a BA in World Politics from Leiden University College in 2020. In her master’s thesis, she explored how international political claims are transformed when brought before domestic civil courts, examining how the language of the law structures the capacity for these courts to be sites for political justice. Focusing specifically on a case brought in the Netherlands by a Palestinian Dutch national against two members of the IDF, the thesis explored the nexus between law and politics and its impact on victims (and victim communities) of international crime.

Teaching

Phoebe Hargrave teaches various courses in the bachelor's programme Political Science: Global Politics. She also supervises bachelor's theses.
