Personal information

Pierre Koning (1971) is full professor "Economics of social insurance and the Labor Market" at the Vrije Universiteit of Amsterdam. Pierre is an affiliate of HERA (Health Economics Research Amsterdam), IZA and Tinbergen Institute. Until December 2015, Pierre was employed as a Chief Science Officer at the Ministry of Social Affairs and Employment in the Netherlands, and before that as a policy economist at CPB Netherlands Bureau of Economic Policy Analysis. Pierre obtained his PhD at the Vrije Universiteit of Amsterdam – with his thesis focusing on job search models for the labor market. His special interest lies in the field of health and work, welfare-to-work services and public economics – here most of his international publications are also focused on.
