Personal information

Philipp Tuertscher is Associate Professor of Technology and Innovation and member of the Knowledge, Information, and Networks research group at the VU University Amsterdam since 2013.

He obtained his PhD at the University of St. Gallen, Switzerland in 2009. After his PhD he worked as an assistant professor at the Institute for Entrepreneuship and Innovation, WU Vienna, Austria.


Philipp’s research explores organizational mechanisms and social practices for collaborative innovation in a variety of settings. Besides studying large-scale scientific collaborations at CERN, Philipp has been studying innovation processes in collaborative communities such as Linux and Wikipedia.
