Personal information

Rebecca Swart is a PhD researcher at the department of Environmental Geography of the Institute for Environmental Studies (IVM). Her research explores the role of local decision-making in sustainable intensification transitions of agriculture and its consequences for European agricultural systems. Rebecca’s work is part of SIPATH: Operationalizing Sustainable Agricultural Intensification Pathways in Europe – a project in cooperation with WSL and Agroscope in Switzerland.

Rebecca completed a Master of Science in Geo-Information Science from Wageningen University, and a Bachelor of Science in Human Geography from the University of Amsterdam. She worked on research projects for the Center of International Forestry Research (CIFOR) and the International Livestock Research Institute (ILRI) in Kenya and Tanzania where she focused on spatial assessments of human-environment interactions in agricultural systems.
