Personal information

Roberto Roberti is an Associate Professor at the Department of Operations Analytics at the School of Business and Economics, VU Amsterdam.

Roberto received an MSc degree in Computer Science (2008) and a Ph.D. in Control System Engineering and Operational Research (2012) from the University of Bologna (Italy). After his Ph.D., Roberto has served as a Post-Doc in Operations Research at the University of Bologna and as an Assistant Professor in Transport Optimization at the Technical University of Denmark (Denmark).

Teaching

Roberto has lectured several courses such as Operations Research, Combinatorial Optimization, Resource Optimization, Optimization Algorithms, Methods and Algorithms for Problem Solving, Vehicle Routing and Distribution Planning, and Optimization of Public Transport. He is currently responsible for the courses Procurement and Supply Management and Supply Chain Lab. He is also coordinator of the master theses in Transport and Supply Chain Management.

Research

Roberto’s main research focus is on exact and heuristic algorithms for solving combinatorial optimization problems arising in transportation and logistics. His research outcomes have been published in major international journals, such as Management Science, Operations Research, and Transportation Science.
