With the lens of econometrics and machine learning, Ruoying studies multi-hazards. Multi-hazard study is an emerging domain that considers the relation among multiple hazards. As a multi-hazard researcher, Ruoying looks into the drivers, societal responses, and interaction of natural hazards. Under the project MYRIAD-EU, her work will depict dynamics among hazard factors qualitatively and quantitatively.
Ruoying has a broad interest in research methods. Her research toolbox was built from both economic study and earth science fieldwork. She is currently indulged in explainable AI tools which can provide unprecedented information from the black box of Artificial Neural Network.
