Sebastian Kraul is an Assistant Professor at the Department of Operations Analytics, VU Amsterdam. With a Ph.D. from the University of Augsburg, his research develops data-driven optimization frameworks to address healthcare challenges arising from aging populations. By integrating machine learning with operations research, he creates decision-making tools for hospital resource allocation and workforce scheduling under uncertainty. His work bridges predictive analytics and prescriptive optimization, validated with real healthcare data. Sebastian has received the GOR Dissertation Award for outstanding contributions to operations research.
