Sinoxolo Magaya is a PhD Candidate in the Institute for Environmental Studies (IVM) within the Environmental Geography (EG) department at VU Amsterdam. Her work is on Phosphorus (P) within organic farming systems, mainly to understanding the demand, constraints, and enablers for P recycling in organic agriculture across EU. Her work is part of Marie SkĘodwska-Curie Innovative Training Network on capture, Recycling and Societal Management of Phosphorus in the Environment.
Sinoxolo has completed a Bachelor of Science in Geography and Hydrology at the University of Zululand, and an MSc in Geography Archaeology and Environmental Studies at the University of Witwatersrand, South Africa. Her MSc research covered themes of indigenous knowledge systems, subsistence agriculture, agricultural management and climate change adaptation. Specifically investigated indigenous Knowledge Systems cues that are essential in agricultural management and tracking seasonality in the rural areas of KwaZulu-Natal and Eastern Cape Provinces in South Africa.
