Sonam Wangchuk is a Postdoctoral Researcher at Vrije University Amsterdam, the Netherlands. He received his PhD from University of St Andrews, the United Kingdom in 2021. He finished his master’s degree in Environmental Engineering from Warsaw University of Technology, Poland in 2016, and bachelor’s degree in Life Sciences from Royal University of Bhutan in 2013. During his PhD he developed algorithms for mapping and monitoring the Himalayan glacial lakes using SAR remote sensing datasets. His current research work focuses on the Siberian Arctic permafrost degradation, wildfires, and carbon missions using SAR remote sensing datasets.
