Personal information

Stef Schinagl is a part-time PhD candidate at Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam and a researcher at the IT Audit Compliance & Advisory (ITACA) program. His research focuses on the impact of digitalization on digital security governance and has lead to different publications. Today’s organizations are increasingly exposed to high risk, because the established digital technologies are vulnerable to security attacks. While there is a growing understanding that digital security is one of the leading risks and challenges of today’s organizations, organizations still find it difficult to implement security governance as part of their regular activities.  Digital security must develop towards a strategic business issue and become an undeniable item on board agendas. Today’s overreliance on security frameworks and standards is not the way forward. Instead, Stef is interested in how the security profession can learn from related theories and through that lens look beyond the newest “best practices and practical security frameworks”.
