Personal information

I am a senior guest researcher at the VUA Institute for Environmental Studies, Department of Environmental Policy Analysis. In 2015 I founded the environmental consultancy SPA Sustainability, after having worked for many years for different organisations in the field of sustainability. SPA Sustainability works on innovative solutions for sustainability that aim to bridge the gaps between current social and political practices and a necessary transition to sustainable development. SPA's activities start from the interests of involved actors and combine empowerment, increasing social well-being and welfare with reducing environmental impacts. For SPA Sustainability and other employers I have worked for public sector clients like the European Commission, European Parliament, IEA, OECD and United Nations, as well as for non-governmental organisations and companies, always on the edge of science and applied solutions. At VUA I combine the practical insights gained in my work with interdisciplinary teaching in the field of sustainability as a guest researcher, supervising in particular student theses at the Master of Environmental Resource Management and coordinating the Summer Course 'Global Energy Transition in a Fossil World'.
