Thomas van Zanten has been contributing to the Executive Master program in Finance & Control (EMFC) at VU Amsterdam since 2016. Having a background as officer in the Dutch Royal Navy (1995-2008), Thomas has gained experience in leadership, organizational restructuring and intelligence (MoD). Besides being a teacher, he is a business advisor in data management, IT-architecture and organisational development as well as an international speaker on lab informatics. He is a qualified business economist (MSc), chartered controller (‘RC’, Tias Business School), and is currently conducting a PhD-trajectory on reimbursement practices in Healthcare. On the EMFC program, Thomas co-developed and co-teaches the course Information, Technology & Control. This course synergizes the domains of Accounting Information Systems and Information Management. The main theme is ‘information quality assurance’. Topics are amongst others, blockchain, cryptocurrency, fraud, hacking and cloud computing. As examinor, Thomas contributes to the course Controllership and he supervises graduation papers in area of management control.
