Personal profile

Personal information

Tim Oosterwijk is assistant professor at the department of Operations Analytics of the Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam. Before joining the VU Amsterdam he was an assistant professor at the Maastricht University and a Postdoctoral researcher at the Universidad de Chile and the Max-Planck-Institut fur Informatik. He holds a PhD from the Maastrich University (2018).

Research

His main research interests are approximation algorithms and combinatorial optimization, and in particular algorithmic game theory. Over the past years, he focused mostly on flows over time and optimal stopping problems. His research is fundamental in nature, but is driven by problems observed in practice that suffer from a lack of coordination or resource limitations.

Teaching

I currently teach in the bachelor curriculum of Econometrics & Operations Research, Bedrijfskunde, and International Business Administration. I supervise bachelor, master and premaster theses in these curricula.
