Personal information
Dr Trynke Hoekstra is trained in biomedical sciences and in epidemiology and employed as an assistant professor at the Department of Health Sciences of the Science faculty. Recently, she obtained an MBA in International Business, specialising in academic leadership and -entrepreneurship.
Trynke teaches (applied) epidemiology and biostatistics courses on BSc-, MSc and postgraduate level. Her research concerns healthy lifestyle promotion among people with mental or physical disabilities. She also enjoys working on global public health topics related to access to healthcare, specifically in remote areas. Additionally, her more methodologically oriented research projects focus on the unraveling of (patient) heterogeneity in particular in longitudinal settings (e.g. the application of latent class models).
Trynke likes to work in multi- and transdisciplinary teams and aims to educate her students in becoming critical and constructive young professionals.
